Amy Engleman

Why have therapy with me?

Great question! Choosing a therapist can involve a lot of scrolling! I know personally with my own therapy it is a personal and often time consuming task.

Personally, and in my professional capacity people have chosen to work with me because…….

I am authentic, open, honest and kind.

I offer hope, and a place for you to explore your own unique journey. I am professional and create a space outside of your circumstances.

I am experienced in working with trauma, both in a personal & professional capacity I have worked through my own trauma with therapy. I know what recovery looks like, I also understand what fear, worry, overwhelm, burnout & so many other challenges feel like.

I will invite you to take responsibility. The way out is through, when we come out the other side we need to be able to take care of our own stuff! Make good informed choices, understand yourself and your needs.

I will challenge you. The scripts we write about ourself can become outdated. I believe when challenged safely we can create insight and signifcant change.

I love my work. It is a privilege to work with you. People often need to feel heard and tell their story. I will be your witness.

Experience

I have a wide range of experiences I bring to the room.

I have been a full time junior athlete, a tutor, a tennis coach, I have experienced my own chronic pain and managed a thriving, successful business.

Special Interest:

People! We are not what has happened to us or what we have experienced.

Over the past 3 years I have worked with a charity supporting survivors of sexual abuse, domestic violence and rape.

I am a passionate and advocate of moving your body, physical health, sport & fitness. Our body is constantly listening and responding to what we tell it.

Men need therapy too. A percentage of my clients are male. Men come with a wide range of issues, all addressed with the same respect, privacy and commitment. My belief is not that we can’t work through our challenges or our feelings, more that we haven’t developed the skill set yet.

What People Are Saying?

“Amy’s knowledge, experience and approach ensured that I identified and addressed issues I may never have been able to resolve on my own. I will definitely recommend Amy to anyone in need of counselling.”

“Amy made me feel safe and comfortable from my first session. I still cannot believe the change in my mindset since I started my sessions with her, she has provided me with all the tools to manage my day to day thinking and I feel far more equipped to deal with my emotions in a healthy way.”

“I found Amy to be very helpful and professional - she is a good listener and in many ways led me to find my own answers”

“I found her easy to talk to and open. Amy helped me to articulate what I was feeling and provided reassurance and affirmed those feelings I had were normal and walked me through a process which led me to understand myself better. I really enjoyed my time with her.”

Motivation comes from within — and I’m here to help you activate it.
